Aims of the Association
The Association has set itself aims as a landlord, which provides the basis of the day to day work of managing the property.
- To provide the best accommodation possible at an affordable cost to the occupants.
- To provide a responsive and friendly service for repairs, maintenance and property management.
- To identify the improvements required in the housing stock and to endeavour to carry out the necessary modernisation.
- To constantly review the performance and seek to improve the service to residents.
- To involve residents in the decision making process.
Trustees and Committee Management
The Association is controlled by a body of Trustees and Governors who are voluntary members who meet on a regular basis to discuss and decide policy to be carried out by the staff. The majority of the Trustees and Governors were employed in the coal industry and have a strong interest in the housing conditions available to retired miners or their widows.
Except for very rare occasions when out of pockets expenses are claimed, they give their services free of charge. An up to date list of the names of Trustees, Governors and Sub-Committee Members can be obtained on request from the main office.
Administration Staff
The day to day administration of the Association is carried out by the Director and the Housing Officer who report regularly to the governing body.
Residents are reminded that when telephoning the office it may not be possible to speak to the Director personally. The Housing Officer will deal with any problems in his absence.
Equal Opportunities Policy
The Association is committed to equal opportunities for its staff, regardless of gender, race, colour or creed. It believes that selection and promotion should be based solely on ability to meet the requirements of the post. The aim is to prevent discrimination, to provide equal access to jobs and to ensure that all staff enjoy fully the benefits of working for the organisation.
